March 24, 2022

At the March 21 school board meeting, the board approved the appointment of two new principals!

Dr. Rachel Metzinger - currently an assistant principal at CVHS - was named the principal of Gerald G. Huesken Middle School (effective June 6, 2022), and Katie Hernandez joins CV as the new principal of Smoketown Elementary (effective Aug. 1, 2022); Hernandez comes to the district following a 16-year tenure at School District of Lancaster (SDoL).

Check out the district homepage for more information!

On Tuesday morning, P.o.W.E.R. club members did their first of four read-alouds with CV elementary students. Club members read two books to first, second, and third grade classes at Smoketown Elementary: Hair Love and Eyes that Kiss in the Corner. They also showed a brief video to the classes and asked students questions about what they'd heard and read.

Thank you, P.oW.E.R. Club, for being great role models for our elementary students!

The Update Center was created in the spring of 2020 when the virus first affected our area.

On March 21, the board agreed to de-activate the COVID dashboard due to the low number of cases in the district; the dashboard can be reactivated at any point if the board so chooses.

The Update Center has a plethora of resources and information, including letters from Dr. Zuilkoski, learning resources, and more.
