Red Ribbon Week

Next week, CVHS will take part in the annual Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23 - 31).

The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week®, October 23rd - October 31st each year.

The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign® is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a drug-free America.

A future Buckskin, perhaps? Last Thursday evening, seventh and eighth grade students and their families were invited to tour to the new middle school. This guy still has a few years until he gets to call this building his own, though!

Calling CVHS Students & Parents

Next month, CVHS is hosting TWO opportunities for CV families to help navigate the financial aid process.

• Monday November 7 – Financial Aid Presentation and PHEAA representative (6-8 pm.)
• Wednesday November 9 – FAFSA Completion Lab (12 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.; in-person and virtual options)

Attention all future varsity wrestlers! Registration for Youth and Junior High wrestling is now open! Students in grades 1-6 are eligible to participate in youth wrestling. Students in grades 7-9 are eligible to participate in Jr. High wrestling.

2022 College Night

Get ready for CVHS's annual College Night! This year's event is scheduled for Nov. 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. at CVHS.

All high school students, parents, and adults interested in pursuing higher education are invited to attend. Over 200 colleges, universities, business and technical schools will be in attendance. There will also be two seminars: "How to Choose a College" and "Financial Aid."

Winter Cheerleading Tryouts

Heads-up! Winter cheerleading tryouts are coming up quickly; they are scheduled for Nov. 1-2 in Uyeda Gym at the high school.

CVHS Yearbook Information

Yearbooks are currently on sale for $75 until November 11! After that time, yearbooks will increase to $80, so be sure to order soon at JostensYearbooks.com (taxes and fees may apply).

Yearbook Spring Supplements (aka Extended Editions) contain events that happen in the spring after the yearbook has been sent to the printer and include Prom, MiniTHON, spring sports, spring musical, and graduation photos. They are self-adhesive and can be placed directly in the back of your yearbook. Spring supplements are an add-on that should be selected when you purchase your yearbook.

Freshman & senior sibling photos for the yearbook should be emailed to connie_martin@conestogavalley.org by November 18. Please include the name of the siblings in the email.

Coming Down to the Final Weeks!

For the past several years, former middle school principal Denis Quirk spearheaded the annual Real Men Wear Pink fundraising campaign across the district.

With Mr. Quirk's departure, CVHS Principal Dr. Smith has graciously taken over!

There are a number of incentives up for grabs (we've heard rumors about pink tutus and a pink Mohawk...) for district staff and students who donate and/or when Dr. Smith reaches several of his fundraising goals.

But it's not limited to District participation! Anyone can donate any amount to Dr. Smith's fundraising efforts. Click here to access Dr. Smith's donation page!

Community Announcement

Just a friendly reminder that the public is welcome to enjoy the outdoor facilities at our schools - walking paths, track, etc. - but not during school hours or when facilities are being used by CV students and staff outside of school hours (i.e. after-school athletic events, before-school club meetings, etc.).

CVCCS Help Available

The Conestoga Valley School District has a close partnership with CVCCS which offers a variety of assistance to the community. Below is a brief overview of CVCCS's service; for more information, click the icon below!

Food & Nutrition:

Client choice food bank with a variety of non-perishables, meat, dairy, produce, & bakery to those in need who live or attend church in the CV School District and meet financial guidelines.

Clothing, Shoes, & Coats:

Client choice clothing bank serving residents of Lancaster County via referral from a church, school, or agency.

Rooted Afterschool Mentoring:

1-on-1 Christian mentoring for at-risk 4th-6th graders at Smoketown Elementary, via referral by the school and parental permission.

Weekend Blessings:

Provides students in the CV School District referred by the school with bundles of food to take home for the weekends.

Summer Lunch:

Serves three lunches a week at three locations in the CV School District from June through August. The meals are free and open to all children 18 and younger.

Back on Track Financial Coaching:

Assists those living “paycheck to paycheck” and the underemployed who don’t qualify for social services but are struggling to avoid homelessness caused by an unavoidable financial hardship.
