All curriculum in the Conestoga Valley Virtual Academy is Pennsylvania standards-based, student-centered and easy to navigate. All coursework balances on-level material with higher-level thinking activities and content reinforcement.
The elementary (K-6) program is powered by K12, an award-winning online curriculum widely regarded as the highest quality available online. K12's flexible curriculum and comprehensive services represent the industry’s most extensive portfolio of online learning.
In the CVVA, this curriculum is supported in-person and via email by a master teacher at regular intervals during the school year. Families can also request additional face-to-face meeting time for support.
At the middle school (7-8) and high school level (9-12), CV teachers use Odysseyware, one of the nation’s leading eLearning solutions, to deliver locally-developed curriculum online. There are also some CV teacher-developed courses in Schoology available. Middlebury is used for upper-level world languages. At the high school level, students can earn all of the credits needed through CV's cyber program for graduation. CVVA also offers dual enrollment options.
Both CVHS and CV Middle School also offer blended, or hybrid, schedule options to give students both in-class and online instruction. This blended schedule gives CV students greater flexibility in scheduling and more options for study.
Assessment and Grading
Assessment and grading in the CVVA is fully aligned to state and classroom standards. Teachers use a variety of assessments and record student scores in an online gradebook also accessible to parents. CV teachers also record Unit grades in Sapphire so they are available through CV's Community Portal as well. CVVA students are required to take state assessments, such as PSSA and Keystone Exams in their home school building, facilitated by CV teachers.
