Laura A. Benton – Class of 1988

  • Earned 11 varsity letters in the sports of basketball, field hockey and softball
  • Two-year Co-Captain in basketball, Career 1,000+ point scorer, All-time CV leading rebounder
  • 1988 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section One All-Star and member of Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star Team
  •   Member of 1986 Warwick Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team and 1987 Columbia Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team
  • Attended Manhattan College on full basketball scholarship – 1990 participated in NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, 1991-1992 received Jasper Award for Excellence in Athletics and Academics
  • Participated in 2001 Chicago Half-Marathon, 2003 Danskin Mini-Triathlon and 2000-2004 Chicago MSA Softball and Flag-Football

  • Baseball – 1986 Captain, 1986 Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star, 1986 District Runner-Up and State Qualifier, 1986 recipient of Coaches Award
  • Football – 3 year starter, 1985 Tri-Captain, 1985 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section II All-Star at RB-LB-Punter, 1985 Coaches Award, 1985 E-Town Lions George Frantz Back of the Year, Nominated to Big 33, Three-time L-L League Section II Champions, Two-time District III Playoff qualifiers and 1985 District III Playoff runner-ups
  • Attended West Chester University – 4 varsity letters, 2 year starter, 1989 Tri-Captain, 1989 PSAC Eastern Conference second-team fullback, 1986 & 1987 PSAC Eastern State Champs, 1988 &1989 participated in Division II National Playoffs, 1989 James Chevrolet Player of the Week
  • Coaching – 12 years assistant football coach, including 1991 Eastern State Championship at CV, 11 years assistant baseball coach and 3 years head baseball coach

  • Lancaster-Lebanon League Section II All-Star 1991, Lancaster-Lebanon League Outstanding Running Back 1991, Second Team All-State Running Back 1991
  • Member of 1991 PA Eastern Champions AAA, State Runner-Up
  • Only C.V. player to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season, Set 11 C.V. Offensive records and several C.V. Defensive records
  • Four-time Lancaster-Lebanon League AAA All-Star in 4 weight classes (#140, #145, #152, #160)
  • Two-time Section II and District III Champion, 1992 4th in State, Set Most Career wins in CV history
  • Attended Millersville University – Earned 4 varsity football letters, 1995 & 1996 second-team All PSAC Running Back, Set Millersville and PSAC touchdown record with 5 rushing TD’s in one game

  • Member of 1972 Conestoga Valley Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship Football Team, 1972 winner of Bill Frantz Memorial Award for Best Back
  • 1970, 1971 & 1972 selected Lancaster County Football Player “Athlete of the Week”, 1972 unanimous choice of Lancaster New Era All-Star Team, 1972 selected Ephrata Review “Outstanding Player”
  • Member of 1971 Lancaster County Track League Championship Team
  • 1972 & 1973 member of Lancaster County Track 800-yd Relay Champs, 1973 sixth fastest time in Lancaster County Track 100 yd dash
