Title IIA
Title II, Part A is a U.S. Department of Education (ED) grant program that provides supplemental funding to help support effective instruction. ED awards Title II, Part A funds to state educational agencies (SEAs), such as the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), which then subgrant funds to local education agencies (LEAs). For convenience, this section will refer to the Title II, Part A program as "Title II."
Purpose of the Title II Program
In general, Title II funds can be used to provide supplemental activities that strengthen the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders. The purpose of Title II is to:
- Increase student achievement consistent with state standards,
- Improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders,
- Increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools, and
- Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
Annual Federal Programs Parent Meeting
Conestoga Valley School District believes it is important to have input from families for planning its Title I program. A meeting is held annually during which parents can make suggestions regarding the ways in which CV spends Title I funds.
The amount of money Conestoga Valley School District receives through Title I is based on the number of families who qualify for free and reduced lunches. Therefore, it is important for all families to complete an application in September and return it to school. Although the funding is tied to family income, our program is not limited in this way. We are fortunate to provide reading and math support to all students who are academically in need of these services.
