Schoology
Why Schoology?
A common theme from teachers, students and parents has been for the district to adopt a single learning management system for parents to stay informed about their child(ren)'s classes and coursework. Previously, learning management systems varied by teacher. As such, all teachers in grades 5-12 will be using the same learning management system -- Schoology. This simplifies parent/student access to assignments and course content. One username and password within Schoology will grant access to your child(ren)'s teachers, courses and schoolwork.
Parents can register for a Schoology account that can be linked with their children's accounts. When parents log in, they will see a Facebook-like interface that links them to the District Schoology page as well as the school pages where their children attend and each child's classroom. This tool will be an integral part of how teachers design and implement their lesson plans, assignments and grades. They will use it to post updates to their class and communicate with parents. Parents will be able to see what their children are working on and have access to their grades through Schoology.
When can parents get into Schoology?
Parents will be given access at the end of the first trimester after teachers and students will have time to be acquainted with the platform. This is a best practice for implementing this software. Working towards full implementation of using one Learning Management System is not easy and will take time. Please be patient with our transition. To help accommodate all stakeholders, district leadership adopted a three-year implementation schedule. While teachers can choose to accelerate their implementation of Schoology, we provided minimum expectations as guidelines for each year of the three years of implementation.

Schoology vs. Sapphire: What's the Difference?

Schoology is a learning management system (LMS). Sapphire Community Portal is the district's student information system (SIS). Parents will soon have access to both platforms.
