Welcome!
Leola Elementary Families and Community:
I am thrilled to have been board approved to serve as the Principal of Leola Elementary School and I officially being on July 1! During my interview process, I had the pleasure of meeting a group of staff members, parents, and community members. Through these interactions, it became clear that the Leola stakeholders take pride in their school community and their strong commitment to supporting students. I am excited to join the Leola staff and to support the Leola students and community.
Over the course of my 13-year career, I have developed interests in educational leadership, curriculum development, and educational technology. I am in the final stretch of completing my doctoral degree at Wilkes University. Prior to being appointed as the Leola Principal, I worked as the Assistant Principal of Elementary Schools right here at the Conestoga Valley School District. In this role, my time was split between J.E. Fritz and Smoketown Elementary Schools. In March of this past year, I transitioned to the Interim Principal position at Smoketown Elementary School. In these positions, I was able to establish a secure understanding of the Conestoga Valley School District and further develop my educational leadership skills. I am looking forward to seeing how my professional skills and passions can support what I already know is an amazing building.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Kids: With the support of Franklin Covey Inc. Leola Elementary is focused on how we as educators can create leaders, one child at a time. The Leader in Me school initiative which is based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, is going to be embedded across all subject areas, and will be demonstrated and taught daily. We were fortunate to receive a grant to become partners with Franklin Covey for this wonderful opportunity!- Be Proactive – Take responsibility for your life. Choose to act deliberately and take responsibility for your actions. Listen to your language and be proactive rather than reactive!
-
Begin With the End in Mind – Define your mission and goals in life. Live your life with hope and purpose. Know what you want before you begin.
-
Put First Things First – Prioritize and do the most important things first. Make the most effective use of your time by prioritizing. Work smarter, not harder.
-
Think Win-Win – Have an ‘everyone can win’ attitude. Build successful relationships with others by finding a solution that works for all.
-
Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood – Listen to people sincerely. Hear others with your eyes, ears and heart. Only 7% of communication is verbal, 93% is body language, tone and feeling.
-
Synergize – Work together to achieve more. Two or more people can work together to create a better solution than either one could create alone. Synergy requires valuing people’s uniqueness and individuality.
-
Sharpen the Saw – Renew yourself regularly. Balance all dimensions of your life: body, mind, heart and soul.
