In each elementary school, students in full-day kindergarten and grades 1 – 6 receive music instruction in a classroom setting for 45 minutes once per four day cycle from certified music specialists. Concepts and skills are taught sequentially in an active, learner-centered environment, where elemental music and movement through the Orff-Schulwerk approach are a central focus. In addition to classroom music, students may sing and perform with the chorus.
Our elementary schools have robust instrumental offerings. Young musicians may elect to study band and/or string instruments in a group lesson setting in conjunction with their participation in instrumental performing ensembles.
