    Students: This is your Timeline to begin to get ready for College.

    11th Grade
    • Meet with your counselor / Junior Interview
    • Develop a list of potential colleges / majors
    • Utilize, use School Selector to do college search
    • Refine college list through website research, college visitations
    • Take PSAT exam in October
    • Take SAT exam twice in Spring Semester
    • Take ACT exam if looking at colleges in Western or Southern regions of the US in Spring Semester
    • Begin Scholarship search on Scholarship search engines
    • Make individual appointment with counselor to review class rank, GPA, course selection, and to determine best college choice for desired major
    • For students hoping to join the Military, see recruiter, take ASVAB exam

    12th Grade

    • Apply to college / trade school thru their website in Fall between 1st day of school and Thanksgiving
    • Apply to between 3 and 7 schools. Apply online
    • Fill out transcript request form for each separate school in Guidance immediately after applying to schools
    • Fill out activity sheet in Guidance
    • Investigate Scholarship information on CV Guidance website and in scholarship bin in the Guidance Office throughout your senior year
    • Complete Financial Aid forms FAFSA and PROFILE between January and February of your senior year, based on tax returns. Deadline is Valentines Day for all financial aid form completion. FAFSA is completed online at FAFSA.GOV. Helpful websites -, FAFSA4caster
    • Receive financial aid packages from colleges in March/April
    • Send deposit to college that is selected prior to May 1st
