Work Experience Program

Students who are employed outside of the school day during the school year may be able to receive high school credit for their working hours. After students have successfully found a job, they can apply for Work Experience through the counseling office. Verification from the employer is required. Students must remain in satisfactory academic standing and must have official working papers on file, if applicable. Work Experience does not impact a student’s GPA.

Internship Program

Internship opportunities are available to 11th and 12th grade students (and to 9th or 10th grade students with administrative permission) who wish to benefit from early experiences with industry experts in their chosen career. Students will collaborate with the Internship Team (Counselor, Internship Coordinator and/or Work-Based Learning Facilitator) to find a proper placement and also periodically throughout the experience. Internships may be paid or unpaid. The student is responsible for transportation to and from the internship location. A grade will be awarded based on the evaluation of the site supervisor and successful completion of the internship requirements. Successful completion of an Internship qualifies as one (1) piece of evidence for Act 158 Pathway 5 Evidence-Based, Section 2 (Internship).

Working Papers

The employment of minors under age 18 in any occupation where work is done for compensation of any kind is regulated by the Child Labor Law. Each student under age 18 wishing for full- or part-time employment must apply for an employment certificate prior to starting work. All certification is handled through the Counseling Center.

Working Paper Instructions

You will need to complete the electronic working paper application and email it to Mrs. McDaniel. Instructions and the link are below. Once the application is received, an email will be sent letting you know when it is completed and when you can pick it up. Mailing it home will also be an option.

To obtain working papers, you must complete the electronic working paper application, found here. This can be completed at home by the parent and student.

After you open the application, save it, and then complete it. You will then save it again and email it to barbara_mcdaniel@conestogavalley.org. Once received, you will be notified by email that it is completed.

If you are a student of Conestoga Valley High School or Middle School, you do not need to provide your birth certificate.

Lancaster County Career and Technology Center

The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) is a full service career and technical school that provides hands-on skills training combined with academic learning to prepare you for careers in the new economy. For more details about the CTC Programs, see lancasterctc.edu. Successful completion of LCCTC program requirements qualifies as Act 158 Pathway 3 CTE Concentrator. Industry-recognized credentials earned at LCCTC qualify as evidence for Act 158 Pathway 5, Section 1 (Industry-Recognized Credentials).

Half-Day Cluster Career & Technology Program           

Students must apply by December of the school year before they plan to attend the CTC. Students who attend CTC during their 11th grade year will have Social Studies or Science requirements waived for that year only. Juniors who attend will take a total of four credits at CV (English, Math, Physical Education, Health, and either Social Studies or Science), and five credits at CTC. Successful completion of an Industry-Based Competency Certification, the likelihood of Industry-Based Competency Assessment success, and/or readiness for Continued Engagement in CTE Concentrator Program of Study all qualify as pieces of evidence for Act 158 CTE Pathway 3. 

Full-Day Program Career & Technology Center

Students must apply by December of the school year before they plan to attend the CTC. Students who attend full-day CTC will be awarded 10 credits based on successful completion of their program. Students who are credit deficient may need additional courses to fulfill CV graduation requirements. Once attending, the CTC is a full-year commitment. Successful completion of an Industry-based Competency Certification, the likelihood of Industry-based Competency Assessment success, and/or readiness for Continued Engagement in CTE Concentrator Program of Study all qualify as pieces of evidence for Act 158 Pathway 3 (CTE Concentrator).
