Stokes Wins First in Writing Conest
Conestoga Valley High School rising senior Jayden Stokes was named the recipient of the Midd Penn Bank Juneteenth Youth Writing Contest.
Entrants chose from one of two writing prompts:
- What does Juneteenth mean to you?
- Tell us about this important historic event with a story or by sharing your own thoughts.
Poems, short stories, and essays were all welcome submissions to the contest and both fiction and non-fiction were accepted. The contest was open to youth in grades 8-12 during the 2020-21 school year. Authors must have resided in one of the following counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Fayette, Lancaster, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northumberland, Schuylkill, or Westmoreland.
As the first place winner, Stokes won $500.
