Conestoga Valley High School rising senior Jayden Stokes was named the recipient of the Midd Penn Bank Juneteenth Youth Writing Contest.

Entrants chose from one of two writing prompts:

  • What does Juneteenth mean to you?
  • Tell us about this important historic event with a story or by sharing your own thoughts.

Poems, short stories, and essays were all welcome submissions to the contest and both fiction and non-fiction were accepted. The contest was open to youth in grades 8-12 during the 2020-21 school year. Authors must have resided in one of the following counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Fayette, Lancaster, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northumberland, Schuylkill, or Westmoreland.

As the first place winner, Stokes won $500.
