2018-2019 Distinguished Alumni

distinguished alumni pose with plaques Four outstanding Conestoga Valley graduates were named “Distinguished Alumni” of Conestoga Valley School District at a ceremony on Friday, April 12.

Gene Clark, class of 2003; Stephen W. Cody, class of 1976; Kevin Ressler, class of 2003; and Julie Rosati Vida, class of 1988; were inducted into the elite group on Friday at a program held at Conestoga Valley High School.

CV Distinguished Alumni are chosen by a committee of current and retired CV administrators, faculty and staff.  This year’s inductees have all reached leadership positions in their careers or made significant contributions to their profession. Additionally, all have strong character and have been involved in community service.

This year’s Distinguished Alumni include:

  • L. Gene Clark, class of 2003. While in college, L. Gene Clark began the development of the Webstaurant Store at Clark Associates. Following college, he began a career in the food service and equipment business unit of Clark Associates, helping the company make the Central Penn Business Journal’s list of “Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies” for the past ten years, holding the first place spot most recently. Within four years, he became president of the business unit, and now oversees six divisions in the unit and 138 employees in offices in Lancaster and Florida. In May 2019, Clark will be honored by Foodservice Equipment Reports magazine as its Young Lion Award recipient. He also uses his musical talent to volunteer for several local organizations, including Lancaster British Brass Band, St. James Episcopal Church and more.
  • Stephen W. Cody, class of 1976. Stephen W. Cody is currently the managing partner for Cody & Pfursich. Cody previously clerked for the late President Judge D. Richard Eckman in the Court of Common Pleas in Lancaster County. Cody is extremely active in the community, having volunteered for numerous organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Urban League of Lancaster, Community Services of Organized Labor, Lancaster County Board of Elections, Lancaster City Planning Commission, Southeast Lancaster Sertoma Club, Eden Manor Swim Team, and more. For more than 30 years, he has served a variety of positions on the board of the Lancaster Health Center (formerly the SouthEast Lancaster Health Services). In 2011, he received the Apex Award for Board Excellence and Service Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers. He is currently the president of the Conestoga Valley Education Foundation.
  • Kevin Ressler, class of 2003. A prominent community organizer and advocate, Kevin Ressler, M.Div., has been the executive director of Meals on Wheels since 2014. He has transformed the business structure of the program, increasing donations from $20,000 to more than $100,000 annually, and increasing clients served daily from 145 to more than 400. Ressler ran a close race to be the Democratic nominee for mayor of Lancaster City in 2017. He dedicates his time to several local nonprofits and government organizations, including the Conestoga Valley Education Foundation, Lancaster General and Penn Health’s Mission and Community Benefit Board Committee, Everence Federal Credit Union Board, and many more.
  • Julie Rosati Vida, class of 1988. Julie Rosati Vida worked her way up through the Navy, starting as an enlisted Russian linguist, being commissioned through the US Naval Academy in 1994, and then serving as a Surface Warfare Officer, Navial Aviator (helicopter pilot), Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, and U.S. Navy Deputy Chief Information Officer. She retired as a Navy Commander in 2012 and currently serves as the Vice President of Executive Programs at Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company. She is an active mentor in the Academy Mentorship Program and Women in Technology. Additionally, in both 2017 and 2018 she was named a finalist for the Women in Technology (Women in Defense) award.

CV launched its Distinguished Alumni program during the 2007-08 school year with the celebration of the district’s 50th anniversary.
