Information for Graduates

The COVID-19 crisis and corresponding state restrictions have forced the school district to modify our end-of-the-year plans. Class of 2020 student officers, their advisors and school officials have worked over the past several weeks to create events to recognize our seniors’ official completion of their high school education. Though the loss of our traditional commencement ceremony is understandably disappointing, the excitement and recognition of this important milestone will go on.

Below is more information about the events happening over the next few weeks. Click the links within the event overview to see more information and instruction for graduates and their families.

May 19, 2020: Senior Athletic Awards Night 2020

Due to the COVID-19 Crisis, it was necessary to cancel our regular Senior Athletic Awards Night event and replace it with activities designed to carry on the tradition of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our senior student-athletes.  We especially lament the loss of seniors’ final spring season due to the school shutdown, but nonetheless are equally proud of their determination and commitment to their sports.  Here are the details for this year’s Senior Athletic Awards Night activities:

  • On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 @ 7:00 p.m., the Senior Athletic Awards program will be posted on the news and Athletics links of the district website. This program identifies the specific winners and athletic awards.
  • Also on Tuesday, May 19 @ 7:00 p.m., a slideshow of senior athletes will be posted to the website. It features photos of the award recipients and their awards.
  • On Tuesday, May 26, the Senior Awards Night hardcopy program along with medals, plaques and other awards will be available for pick up as a part of seniors’ drop off and collection activities at the front entrance of the school. Please follow procedures for that date as posted on school communications.
  • Award recipient names will be forwarded to local media outlets for publication.

Congratulations to all our senior athletes and their families and thank you for your support and participation in Conestoga Valley High School athletics!

May 21, 2020: Senior Awards Night 2020

Due to the COVID-19 Crisis, it was necessary to cancel our regular Senior Awards Night and replace it with online presentations designed to continue the tradition of recognizing and celebrating the many achievements of the Class of 2020.  Though we will miss seeing our many benefactors and award presenters in person, they have continued their most generous support to our seniors this year without hesitation.  We thank them immensely and wish them health and safety in all ways.

The activities replacing Senior Awards Night this year are as follows:

  • A hardcopy program including all awards and senior recipients will be produced and mailed to all senior winners’ homes along with certificates, monetary gifts and scholarships. Thank you notes for award recipients to send to sponsors will be included in this mailing.
  • A Senior Awards Night online slideshow will be posted on the school website also on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. It will feature pictures of award winners and explanations of their achievements.
  • Award recipient names will be forwarded to local media outlets for publication.

Congratulations to this year’s Senior Awards Night recipients and we thank you for sharing your many talents and achievements with the Conestoga Valley community.  We wish you continued success in all ways!

Tuesday, May 26, 2020: Pickup/Distribution of Important Items

  • Important Items Pickup/Dropoff. Tuesday, May 26, 2020, is the day we are collecting and distributing important items for the Class of 2020. Items to distribute include cap & gowns, yearbooks and Senior Athletic Awards.  Items that need to be collected from seniors include anything they have at home (or in their cars) that needs to be returned to school including school laptops, borrowed textbooks & library books, classroom equipment of any kind and so forth.  We also want to use the day as practice run for the “Buckskin Farewell” car procession on Friday, May 29. For more details, click here.

Friday, May 29, 2020: The Buckskin Farewell and Online Commencement Ceremony

  • The Buckskin Farewell. 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This event is a car procession of graduates starting in the CVHS Student Parking Lot (near the tennis courts) and moving along the front of the high school building.  Cars will briefly stop at the front entrance to the high school and receive their diplomas and the official commencement program from School Board President Mr. Todd Shertzer and Superintendent Dr. Dave Zuilkoski.  Graduates and their families will remain in their cars as staff use all precautions for the safe transfer of items.  The car procession will then exit the school campus toward the Middle School, using the access road now called “Pritchard Way.”  This event will signify the official matriculation of our graduates and their graduation from high school.  For more details and instructions, please click here.

  • Online Commencement Ceremony. 7:00 p.m.  This event is an online version of the official commencement ceremony and will be made open for viewing online beginning at 7:00 p.m.  It includes our traditional speeches, awards and the individual recognition of each graduate.

Friday, July 24, 2020: Senior Slam Picnic

  • Senior Slam Picnic. This event continues to be in the planning phase and will be based on social gathering restrictions in place at the time.  In addition to food, refreshments and picnic games, we plan to have an official backdrop to allow for cap & gown pictures.  Work will continue with Class of 2020 officers to organize other opportunities for fellowship and to celebrate senior accomplishments.  This event is being planned for the stadium area and is intended for graduates and their families.
