Schedule Changes Announced to Accommodate Employee COVID-19 Vaccinations

CV Community –

We have been given the opportunity to increase the safety for our faculty and staff with the State’s rollout of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine to our District employees, as well as SOSL and Brightbill employees dedicated to serving CV.

Here is where your patience, grace, flexibility and understanding will come into play. The window for the 170 eligible employees to get their vaccines begins Thursday afternoon (March 11). In order to accommodate the 170 eligible employees, and to be proactive in the case of side effects of the vaccine, CV will have an early dismissal on Thursday, March 11, followed by asynchronous virtual instruction on Friday, March 12, and Monday, March 15. The asynchronous lessons (not ongoing Zoom instruction throughout the day) will be developed by our teachers and shared with their students. The individual teachers will set up a plan for students to have the opportunity to reach out and contact the teachers for questions/help/information. This could be through email, SeeSaw, Schoology, or even Zoom; it is up to the professional discretion of each teacher.

We understand the impact of any shift to virtual, at-home instruction, but know that we are working with the State on their plan to keep our educators safe so that we can continue to experience face-to-face instruction for the rest of the year.

As an early heads-up, we will be repeating an early dismissal followed by two asynchronous virtual days when the second round of vaccines is available for the remaining faculty and staff, possibly in three to four weeks.

Even with the vaccines, we will continue to practice the good habits of wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and washing our hands. Thank you for working with us as we do our best to create positive learning environments for our students in a challenging school year!

So, again,

  • EARLY DISMISSAL on Thursday, March 11, 2021 (12:30 for Secondary, 1:15 for elementary)
  • ASYNCHRONOUS VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION (not live in-person) on Friday, March 12, 2021
  • ASYNCHRONOUS VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION (not live in-person) on Monday, March 15, 2021
  • REGULAR IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION (back in school) on Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe as we work through the school year!
