Sept. 13, 2022

CV Middle School Community –

At last night’s board meeting (Monday, Sept. 12, 2022), it was announced the opening of the new middle school will be pushed back exactly one week.

A tremendous amount of progress has been made since our last update; all educational pods are complete and all above-grid inspections – to included fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and lighting – have passed. There are a few items left to complete in order to ensure safe occupancy of our building and this additional week will get us to that point. The additional week will also allow more time to complete the cafeteria.

What this one-week shift means is that we will begin a staggered start for students in the NEW middle school on Tuesday, Sept. 27 instead of Tuesday, Sept. 20.

The updated schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 27: 8th grade students and teachers will start at the NEW middle school
  • Thursday, Sept. 29: 7th grade students and teachers will join the 8th grade group at the NEW middle school
  • Friday, Sept. 30: 6th grade students and teachers will join the 7th and 8th grade groups at the NEW middle school

Eighth grade students will remain at Burle until their start date at the new middle school on Sept. 27. Seventh and sixth graders will remain at the OLD middle school until their start dates at the new middle school on Sept. 29 and Sept. 30, respectively.

Meals will continue to be available for all students (please remember: the cost of the meals is based on your free/reduced lunch status. If a student does not have money on their account, they will receive a charge to their account). The form to for eighth grade families to sign up for meals will be sent on Wednesday, Sept. 14 in order to assist our Food Services Department in ensuring an adequate number of meals is transported to Burle each day. Buses will also continue to transport eighth grade students from the old middle school to Burle in the morning and return them to the old middle school prior to dismissal at 2:20 p.m.

In addition, the Cruise the Halls dates have also been shifted by exactly one week. The new dates are now as follows:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 28: 8th Grade Cruise the Halls, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 29: 7th Grade Cruise the Halls, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 30: 6th Grade Cruise the Halls, 6-7:30 p.m.

Your patience, grace, understanding, and flexibility continues to be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
