Letter to CV Community: Jan. 28, 2024

CV Community - Please see the letter below regarding tonight's incident involving a social media threat. The letter can also be found in PDF format here.

We appreciate everyone who contacted the District regarding the incident but we could not and cannot respond to each person individually.

This evening, Sunday, January 28, through a Safe2Say app notification, the District was made aware of threatening language made by an unknown Snapchat account and directed at the middle school. Middle school administrators immediately reached out to East Lampeter Township Police and District Office administrators. In addition, officers contacted Snapchat to both report the account and to attempt to gather more information about the unknown account.

After a thorough investigation by the East Lampeter Township (ELT) Police, the student who issued the threat was identified and police have confirmed there is no active threat to the CV community. ELT police will continue to follow up with the incident.

There will be extra police presence on the high school and middle school campuses on Monday, in addition to Officers Werner and Zollner, the District’s School Resource Officers (SRO).

Because this is now a police matter, the District cannot comment any further, but should there be a need to further update CV parents, guardians, and/or the community, we will provide additional communication.

As a school and a District, we will continue to do our due diligence in practicing building safety. Through our actions, we will continue to make Huesken Middle School, and all schools in the District, safe learning environments for all.

Sincerely,

Daniel Hartman, EdD
Superintendent

Rachel Metzinger, EdD
GGHMS Principal
