Wrestling Shines at Holiday Classic

The Conestoga Valley wrestling team placed fifth out of 27 teams at the program's Wrestling Holiday Classic on Dec. 29-30. The top-five finish tied the team's best finish in the history of the Classic. 

In addition, senior Keaton Fischer became the program's fifth-ever champion and the first since 2013 (current coach Lucas Ortiz). The Buckskins boasted seven medalists in total, which tied for the second most place winners in the history of the event, matching totals in 2002, 2016, and 2019. 

Every wrestler that placed met or exceeded his tournament seedings. Below are the individuals who placed:

  • Keaton Fischer: 1st (seeded 2nd)
  • Luke Morley: 2nd (seeded 3rd)
  • Zander Rider: 3rd (seeded 5th)
  • Mukhammed Karayev: 4th (unseeded)
  • Nate Kirchner: 7th (unseeded)
  • Luke Needham: 8th (seeded 8th)
  • Jonathan Lopez: 8th (unseeded)
